Dear Fellow Democrats,
Unfortunately, we are cancelling this year’s JFK Banquet due to the spike in the COVID-19 Delta variant. After consulting with the medical community, and in light of their letter expounding on our overwhelmed medical system and near zero ICU beds, the Ada County Democrats felt canceling this year’s JFK was the safest option. We found the meal portion and crowd of the event were not possible under the necessary COVID mitigation measures. When science speaks we listen. After all, Democrats believe in science!
But the good news is, we will go forward with our online auction, and make it even bigger and better! So many of you have donated great items and we have added the big ticket live auction items to our online auction as well, so you have lots of great things to bid on.
There will be no dessert auction, but we want to thank all of you who volunteered to make desserts. We also want to thank our event sponsor, Mayor Lauren McLean, our keynote speakers, Mayor Kate Gallego of Phoenix and Michael Satz, Executive Director of the 97% Project, Jordan Morales, Rudy Soto, Destinie Hart, Ken Harris, and Emcee Crispin Gravatt. I wish we could hear from all of you!
Our goal was to net $40,000 on the banquet, and we still need to meet that goal. Remember, the money we raise from this event will fund our 2022 field program so we can elect more Democrats. In this political climate, electing more Democrats is even more important, so we hope you will bid generously on the online auction AND promote the auction to your friends. The good news is, those people who may have been hesitant to attend an in-person event can now participate!
So raise those virtual paddles and start bidding!
