Hello Ada Dems,

As always, things are moving pretty fast here in Ada County. Lots to catch up on, so here are a few highlights we’ve picked out for you this week!

Meridian Library Hearing

The Ada County Commissioners have set a hearing date for the petition to dissolve the Meridian Library District. The date is set for March 20th at 6:00PM at the Ada County Courthouse.

Only people living within the Meridian Library District are eligible to testify. If you are interested in testifying, contact us here. If you’re not sure whether you live in the district, contact us and we can easily let you know!

This hearing is incredibly important. It’s unclear to us still what exactly will happen to the Meridian Libraries if the district is dissolved, but I certainly know one thing: I don’t trust the current Ada County Commissioners with the fate of our libraries.

You can read more about the hearing on Boise Dev:

Frank Church Gala

Coming up on the Saturday after next, the biggest Democratic event every year in Idaho: the Frank Church Gala! March 11th, with the main event starting at 5:30 PM. The special guest speaker this year is Mandela Barnes, former Wisconsin Attorney General.

Volunteer Recruitment Training

I am happy to announce my next event in this year’s training series.

We all need help to get more work done. Sometimes, people show up when they’re needed but often don’t know where to go or what to do.

The focus of my training this month is Volunteer Recruitment: all the tools and tricks available to you to be more effective at getting the help you need! This training, unlike last month’s, requires no previous knowledge.

If you’re interested, RSVP here: https://www.mobilize.us/adacountydemocrats/event/553552/

Kuna GOTV Phone Bank

Next Tuesday marks one week before the Kuna School Bond election. The perfect time to call every Democrat we know in Kuna and remind them to vote in this election!

Join us on zoom at 5:00PM to make these calls. We need your help. These elections are easily winnable, but we need to put in the hard work.

Absentee Ballot Request

This brings me to my next request- let’s all vote absentee this year. There are a lot of reasons I feel this way. It’s convenient, it helps you not forget an election, it avoids issues like getting sick on election day, but there’s even more than just those personal reasons.

If all the most active democrats vote by mail, we’ll automatically know we don’t have to use resources to call, text, and door knock them.

This way, all our efforts are spent on people who aren’t nearly as likely to vote as us.

Click here to request your absentee ballot for 2023. Yes, you have to do this every single year in Idaho – but it only takes a second. Click here to request all your 2023 ballots.
