To me, this week feels like a lot of waiting. Waiting on the news from HB71 in the legislature, and many other horrible bills like it. Waiting on the news from the Ada County Commission about the fate of the Meridian Library District. While we wait, I wanted to make sure you all know about the myriad of ways to get involved, including some new opportunities!
Share your library story!
My partner works at the Boise Public Library. She’s actually getting her degree in Library Science right now! So when I think about libraries, I often think about her and the work she does.
But I also have tons of fond memories of visiting my local library as a child- some summers, I practically lived there, and worked my way through the fantasy section like a maniac. Libraries are so much more than books, too! There are so many resources our libraries provide for us.

Upcoming Volunteer Recruitment Training

This training is on volunteer recruitment. I think this is one of the most important skills when working in politics, and the best part about it is that even a volunteer can recruit volunteers.
It can be tricky to get people to show up for you. The good news is that it’s not an art form- it’s a science. And I know a little bit about that science, and I want to share it with you!

Upcoming Door Knock
The Meridian Library is under attack by local extremists. The Meridian Library Trustee election is in just seven weeks. There is so much to do in that time.
Ada Democrats are launching our first door knock of the year this Saturday! 10:00 AM at Fuller Park in Meridian to support Meridian Library Trustee Destinie Hart.

Recurring Phone Bank
Next Thursday, we’re starting up our regular phone banks for 2023.
I’m excited to get down to business. There are a lot of calls to make for elections like the Meridian Library and recruiting volunteers in your area to build our volunteer lists for the November elections, or doing the hard work of identifying independent voters all around Ada County.
