There’s a lot going on! And a lot of ways to get involved.

Gracie Pfost Gala

Only two weeks left until the Gracie Pfost Gala! Tickets are almost completely sold out. (Though it’s not too late!)

I wanted to talk about the impacts of your money on the Ada political landscape.

First of all, I wouldn’t be here without a massive effort of fundraising from the Ada Democrats before 2021. It has been a slow build, but over the last four years, we have gone from zero employees to two full-time, year round employees — but our effects have been a lot more tangible than just that!

In 2021, we knocked more doors than any municipal year before, focusing on small races that don’t get enough attention.

In 2022, we had enough to hire two full-time Organizers and over ten part-time employees, from Field Fellows to Paid Door Knockers. We knocked more doors in Ada County than ANY OTHER YEAR IN HISTORY.

We win and lose races for a lot of reasons. Local politics are mostly at the whim of larger movements and feelings across the country. However, we can prove with statistical analysis that without our investments in Field, candidates like Senator Rick Just would not have crossed the finish line.

Sometimes it’s about striking gold. But most of the time, politics is hard work, and requires a lot of people. That’s what your money can go to in Ada County. Hiring Organizers to gather and support volunteers, and working intelligently and efficiently.

So when you’re holding that bidding paddle on Saturday the 23rd at the Gracie Pfost Gala, think about all the future races that are on a razor’s edge! Your contributions and your hard work are the reasons why we can win!

Boise Pride

Today marks the start of Boise Pride! Thanks to all you eager volunteers, we are completely covered for the Dems booth at Pride! Thank you so much for showing up, it’s going to be a full weekend of registering and informing young voters!

To me, this is what the job is all about. The thing I love spending time on is showing up for marginalized communities and doing what we can. We can bring information on local politics and the process directly to the people most impacted by local politicians. Not only that, but we can show this community that we care. We aren’t silent, and we’re not waiting in the background for the rampant hatred from the far right to die down.

That’s why we could still use your help, even if you didn’t snag a spot at the booth. We need everyone who can to show up and march in the parade!

Join us this weekend. It’ll be a blast!

Special Session on Presidential Primary

We are now halfway through the process to getting a Special Session to fix the Republicans’ mistakes in the 2023 Legislative Session. The petition to call a Special Session has passed the Idaho Senate, and just needs to receive 60% support from the Idaho House.

If you didn’t hear, during this year’s Legislative Session, the Republicans passed HB 138, eliminating the March Presidential Primary and neglected to include language to move the Presidential Primary to May, which is what they had intended.

Now, Idaho voters are stripped from access to the Presidential Primary, and the burden of hosting a Presidential Caucus falls directly to the Political Parties.

Caucuses can be fun, but they are expensive, disorganized, and go against the principles of a private ballot that Primaries offer.

Read more about HB 138 and the Special Session here!
